100% Hemp

Our new range of cushions is made out of 100% hemp. They feature images of the Raglan coastline, which is on the East coast of the North Island of New Zealand. This image is of a Manuka tree that looked out across a well known surf beach. The tree no longer exists as it finally lost the battle with the prevailing winds but its presence is captured on this work.

These cushions featured as part of a joint exhibition called SeaT, a uniquely New Zealand design collaborative inspired by the rituals and experience of eating by the sea. The concept and project was devised, developed and distributed through Essenze and David Trubridge Design. To read more about SeaT go to: http://www.essenze.co.nz and click on SeaT.

The hemp fabric is vat dyed which is a premium dye system for natural textiles. It creates a fabric highly resistant to sunlight fading which rates 7+ on the blue wool scale. The dye is also an environmentally friendly water-based dye.
