Ceramic Jewellery

”I am a collector by nature. Always have been. As a child I would come home from the beach with pockets crammed with pebbles, feathers and shells.

This collection of ceramic jewellery is inspired by the smooth round organic shaped pebbles found on Makara beach. Each piece is made from a naturally coloured stoneware clay, formed into ceramic pebbles and bound with natural twine to enhance the organic feel. I have also used accents of blood red and line drawings of Australian and New Zealand flora and fauna.

I am inspired by the Japanese aesthetic wabi-sabi. The characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, simple elegance, intimacy, modesty and suggest a natural process.”
